Waiting On Wednesday (3)

Entwined With You (Crossfire #3) by Sylvia Day

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I have been eagerly waiting for this book for awhile. It was suppose to be released in December 2012 but got pushed back to June 2013. I absolutely love the first 2 books; in fact Reflected In You had me in tears at the end of it. I am really looking forward to this book and I hope this is not the end of the series. I love all the characters, especially Gideon.

Expected Publication Date: June 4, 2013

From the moment I first met Gideon Cross, I recognized something in him that I needed. Something I couldn't resist. I saw the dangerous and damaged soul inside–so much like my own. I was drawn to it. I needed him as surely as I needed my heart to beat.

No one knows how much he risked for me. How much I’d been threatened, or just how dark and desperate the shadow of our pasts would become.

Entwined by our secrets, we tried to defy the odds. We made our own rules and surrendered completely to the exquisite power of possession...

Review: Reckless #3 by S. C. Stephens

Title: Reckless (Thoughless #3)
Author: S.C. Stephens
Release Date: March 5, 2013
Publisher: Gallery Books
Pages: 544
Source: Bought from Amazon

Synopsis: Can love survive when life gets Reckless?
When the band hits it big, Kiera and Kellan must ask themselves: Can their love for each other survive the constant pressures of superstardom? The friendships they've formed, the new family they've found, and the history they've forged will all play a part in helping them navigate the turbulent waters of the band's exploding popularity. A greedy executive hell-bent on success, a declining pop star looking for an edge, and a media circus that twists lies into truths are just some of the obstacles the lovers will have to overcome if they are going to remain together. Fame comes with a price-but will it cost Kiera and Kellan everything?

My Thoughts:

Reckless is the third and final novel in the Thoughtless series by S.C. Stephens. In Reckless, we start off with The D-Bags about to go on tour to be major rock stars. The record label lets them stay at the house in L.A and this is where they meet a major star, Sienna Sexton. The label wants them to collaborate on a song because Sienna’s career is hitting a snag but this is where the trouble begins. Kellan and Kiera’s relationship is tested time and time again to prove that their love will last. Reckless did not disappoint; even after a few days of finishing the book, I can’t stop thinking about it because it has affected me so much on a personal level.

This series is very different from anything I have ever read. Usually the books I read are about people who have been cheated on but this is a much different perspective. We see Kiera feeling really guilty about hurting Denny even after 2 years of being with Kellan. Kellan and Kiera go through a lot of issues and have to learn to trust each other 100% in order for their relationship to work. Trust and communication becomes 2 of the major identifying factors that keep their relationship going.

I absolutely love Kiera and Kellan. They have grown a lot since Thoughtless. They have both learned a lot from their previous mistakes and are stronger together than they are apart. I love how Kiera has matured in Reckless. When Kiera told Joey to do whatever she wanted with the tape, I had more respect for Kiera than I ever did before. She supports Kellan because she wants him to be happy and successful even though it has the potential to hurt her. I think this is what I love most about Kiera in this book and also because she is not as jealous about Kellan flirting with fans any longer. It shows that she has more confidence in herself and in her relationship.

The other characters like Griffin and Anna have grown a lot and I found myself liking Griffin, where I didn’t really care for him before. After their baby is born, Griffin becomes more responsible (yeah I said it) and I really like how the baby changed him.

I must say I kind of have a new found respect for stars and their private lives after reading this book. The events that occurred are prime examples of how you can’t believe everything you hear on the news (about major stars) because it could be made up. My heart broke for Kiera when she was ridiculed and assaulted by the public because they thought she was the other woman in Kellan’s life. I must say one of my favourite parts is when Kellan confessed the truth at the radio station about his relationship. I read that part over and over again.

This book had me in tears in 3 separate times; not just in tears but a blubbering mess. I felt for Kiera and everything she went through. I am so happy I decided to read the series because every time I read a series by S. C Stephens, she blows my mind. Her other series, the Conversion series, is great as well. I am a huge fan of the author and I am so happy to read whatever she writes next.

Waiting On Wednesday (2)

Magic Rises (Kate Daniels #6) by Ilona Andrews

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I am very excited about this book being released. I have the first 5 books in the Kate Daniels series and they were absolutely amazing. I can see why on Goodreads and Amazon, there were great ratings. There is never a dull moment in these books and best of all, I get to see Curran again, sighhhhh. After Magic Rises there are scheduled to be 4 more Kate Daniels books, Yah! The only bad part is there will be a long wait for them. Sighhhh again!

Expected Publication Date: July 20, 2013

Atlanta is a city plagued by magical problems. Kate Daniels will fight to solve them—no matter the cost.
Mercenary Kate Daniels and her mate, Curran, the Beast Lord, are struggling to solve a heartbreaking crisis. Unable to control their beasts, many of the Pack’s shapeshifting children fail to survive to adulthood. While there is a medicine that can help, the secret to its making is closely guarded by the European packs, and there’s little available in Atlanta.
Kate can’t bear to watch innocents suffer, but the solution she and Curran have found threatens to be even more painful. The European shapeshifters who once outmaneuvered the Beast Lord have asked him to arbitrate a dispute—and they’ll pay him in medicine. With the young people’s survival and the Pack’s future at stake, Kate and Curran know they must accept the offer—but they have little doubt that they’re heading straight into a trap…

Review: Boundless (Unearthly #3) by Cynthia Hand

Title: Boundless (Unearthly#3)
Author: Cynthia Hand
Release Date: January 22nd, 2013
Publisher:  HarperTeen
Pages: 438
Source: Won from Goodreads

Synopsis: The past few years have held more surprises than part-angel Clara Gardner could ever have anticipated. Yet from the dizzying highs of first love, to the agonizing low of losing someone close to her, the one thing she can no longer deny is that she was never meant to live a normal life.
Since discovering the special role she plays among the other angel-bloods, Clara has been determined to protect Tucker Avery from the evil that follows her . . . even if it means breaking both their hearts. Leaving town seems like the best option, so she’s headed back to California - and so is Christian Prescott, the irresistible boy from the vision that started her on this journey in the first place.
As Clara makes her way in a world that is frighteningly new, she discovers that the fallen angel who attacked her is watching her every move. And he’s not the only one. . . . With the battle against the Black Wings looming, Clara knows she must finally fulfill her destiny. But it won’t come without sacrifices and betrayal.
In the riveting finale of the Unearthly series, Clara must decide her fate once and for all.

My Thoughts:

**Definitely read Radiant before you read Boundless, it will make more sense if you do**
We start off with Clara getting use to the events that happened in Hallowed, her mother dying, her break-up with Tucker (who she is still missing); she basically feels everything is crashing down around her. In Boundless, she starts getting a new vision which scares her more than any of the other visions she has had in the past. As it gets closer to the vision coming through, it becomes more urgent.

I love the author’s writing style. Every time I read something by her, it is captivating, gripping, makes me want to forget about everything because I want to know what happens next. For the few days I read this book, I was very anti-social and it was so worth it. I would have to say my favorite part was when Clara goes back into the past. I read that part over and over again. This book is not only about a love triangle or good and evil but love for your family and what one act of kindness can do. Cynthia Hand left Boundless in such a way that she can easily continue the series from a different character’s point of view. I really hope she does, I really love the world she created in this series.

If you enjoyed Unearthly and Hallowed, you will DEFINITELY enjoy Boundless. It will not leave you disappointed.

Waiting on Wednesday (1)

Darkness, Kindled by Samantha Young

(Fire Spirits #4)

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I am sooooo excited for this book to be released. I have read almost all of the author's series and this one is by far one of my favourites. I love the relationships between the characters and the kings, ohhhh how I love the kings,  definitely one of the reasons why I love the Fire Spirits series! So sad this is the last book in the series but I'm sure it will be epic.

Ari Johnson wishes adjusting to living with her boyfriend was her only source of excitement and anxiety.
She wishes a lot of things.
But then wishing was what got her here in the first place.

Ari chose to be a Guild Hunter. She wanted to stalk dangerous Jinn and destroy them before they could harm innocent people. But now that Ari is a member of The Guild, she finds herself in the impossible position of hunting her ex-best friend – human-turned-dangerous sorcerer, Charlie Creagh. As Ari struggles to come to terms with her duty, an ancient Jinn and his companion want revenge on her for using the command of the Seal against them; the White King refuses to give up on his quest to resurrect Lilif, and Asmodeus isn't done toying with her.

When Ari can take no more, rushing to the Sultan Azazil’s side to demand of him the favor he owes her, the events she sets in motion will not only alter everyone’s lives, it will kindle a darkness that will shake the realms to their very core.

Expected Publication Date: April 23rd 2013

I love the cover. What a pretty mixture of colours. What are you Waiting for on Wednesday????

Review: The Goddess Inheritance by Aimee Carter

Love or life.
Henry or their child.
The end of her family or the end of the world.
Kate must choose.

During nine months of captivity, Kate Winters has survived a jealous goddess, a vengeful Titan and a pregnancy she never asked for. Now the Queen of the Gods wants her unborn child, and Kate can't stop her--until Cronus offers a deal.

In exchange for her loyalty and devotion, the King of the Titans will spare humanity and let Kate keep her child. Yet even if Kate agrees, he'll destroy Henry, her mother and the rest of the council. And if she refuses, Cronus will tear the world apart until every last god and mortal is dead.

With the fate of everyone she loves resting on her shoulders, Kate must do the impossible: find a way to defeat the most powerful being in existence, even if it costs her everything.

Even if it costs her eternity.

My Thoughts:

We start off with Kate still being imprisoned by Cronus and Calliope and is about to give birth to her child. Calliope wants to hurt Kate as badly as she has hurt her, so she wants to take what Kate holds most dear: Henry and their child.

Meanwhile, Cronus wants to rule the world and kill all of the other gods on Olympus. Cronus definitely has a MAJOR god complex; he wants everyone to bow down to him, after all, he is the King of the Titans. Cronus has developed a special connection to Kate and therefore wants her to stay with him and be his queen. Kate agrees in order to protect her son, Henry and the rest of her family.  A mother will do anything to protect her child even if it means making a deal with the devil.

I absolutely love this book. I have been waiting for it for so long and when I finally got my hands on it, it was like little drops of heaven. I love the relationship between Kate and Henry and Kate and her mother. I also love how Kate and Henry bond over their son. Some people might think that Kate is naive but I don’t think she is; when in a situation, she dealt with it the best that she could under the circumstances. Kate grew up human so that put her at a disadvantage sometimes but also at an advantage other times. She was able to think of a way to help her family when none of them could, to stop the war. She is a very strong character in her own way and I really like that; she fights for the things she wants and believes in.

After reading The Goddess Legacy (The Goddess Test #2.5), I understand Calliope a lot more. I understand what drove her to be the way she is. Walter made a whole bunch of promises to her and he didn’t keep the one she wanted the most: Fidelity. I think on some level every woman would have acted like she did in the beginning with her husband cheating all the time and treating her like one of his subjects instead of equals. In The Goddess Inheritance, even though Calliope was completely evil, I found myself feeling a little sorry for her. She just wanted someone to love her and treat her like the queen she is.

The book was really easy to read. I was reminded of how much I liked the author’s writing style. I love the world the author created; it is captivating, magical and full of love in the purest sense. I simply could not put the book down because I wanted to know what was going to happen. When I wasn’t able to read, I was thinking about it constantly. It definitely will not disappoint. The ending of the series is bittersweet for me. I hope we see more of Aimee Carter soon, and I am so excited to read her next series.
