Waiting on Wednesday (77)

Thew Lovely Reckless by Kami Garcia

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Expected Publication Date: October 4, 2016

Synopsis: (Taken from Goodreads):
I’ve become an expert at avoiding things that could hurt me—which means I will figure out how to stay away from Marco Leone.

Seventeen-year-old Frankie Devereux would do anything to forget the past. Haunted by the memory of her boyfriend’s death, she lives her life by one dangerous rule: Nothing matters. At least, that’s what Frankie tells herself after a reckless mistake forces her to leave her privileged life in the Heights to move in with her dad—an undercover cop. She transfers to a public high school in the Downs, where fistfights don’t faze anyone and illegal street racing is more popular than football.

Marco Leone is the fastest street racer in the Downs. Tough, sexy, and hypnotic, he makes it impossible for Frankie to ignore him—and how he makes her feel. But the risks Marco takes for his family could have devastating consequences for them both. When Frankie discovers his secret, she has to make a choice. Will she let the pain of the past determine her future? Or will she risk what little she has left to follow her heart?

I've been feeling under the weather lately and find it hard to focus and read or even listen to a book. Hopefully that passes soon. In these next couple of months, some great books are going to releasing and I'm so excited! Books purchased at Chapter Indigo:

The Great Hunt by Wendy Higgins
Legacy of Kings by Eleanor Herman
The Beauty of Darkness by Mary E. Pearson
It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover

I can't believe it's August already. Where has the last 7 months gone? It's been awhile since I've posted anything. The honest truth is that I needed to step back with everything in my life and find what I really enjoy. In my time away from blogging I've found some new hobbies that I find that I love doing. Now I'm back and I've read some really good books in my time away and excited to start sharing. The books above are some of what I've bought recently. I'm so excited to start reading them! I think I'm going to start with It Ends with Us. The author posted a pic on Instagram recently where she has received something like over 800 5 star reviews on Amazon. I definitely would like to see what this book is about because of that.

What new books have you received recently???

Expected Publication Date: September 20, 2016

Synopsis: (Taken from Goodreads)
Every generation on the island of Fennbirn, a set of triplets is born: three queens, all equal heirs to the crown and each possessor of a coveted magic. Mirabella is a fierce elemental, able to spark hungry flames or vicious storms at the snap of her fingers. Katharine is a poisoner, one who can ingest the deadliest poisons without so much as a stomachache. Arsinoe, a naturalist, is said to have the ability to bloom the reddest rose and control the fiercest of lions.

But becoming the Queen Crowned isn’t solely a matter of royal birth. Each sister has to fight for it. And it’s not just a game of win or lose…it’s life or death. The night the sisters turn sixteen, the battle begins. The last queen standing gets the crown.

If only it was that simple. Katharine is unable to tolerate the weakest poison, and Arsinoe, no matter how hard she tries, can’t make even a weed grow. The two queens have been shamefully faking their powers, taking care to keep each other, the island, and their powerful sister Mirabella none the wiser. But with alliances being formed, betrayals taking shape, and ruthless revenge haunting the queens’ every move, one thing is certain: the last queen standing might not be the strongest…but she may be the darkest.

Stacking the Shelves (62)

Welcome to this week's Stacking the Shelves hosted byTynga`s Reviews. It features books I bought or received for review each week. It is about adding books to my book shelf whether it by physical, virtual or audio. Thanks for stopping by!

Books purchased at Chapters Indigo:
The Siren by Keira Cass
Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

I was so happy when I ordered these books and I am so excited to read them. Unfortunately these are the last books I will be buying for a bit. No physical books, e-books, or audiobooks. Yikes! It's going to be so hard. I've put myself on a book buying ban because I realized I was buying more books that I could read. Hence the ban for 1-2 months. To tell you the truth I doubt I will last that long but I'm hoping I can hold off. I bought these books in February and it came earlier this week because of the March release of Lady Midnight. This will be the last Stacking the Shelves until I start buying books again :(

On another note, I'm currently reading The Heart of Betrayal (The Remnant Chronicles #2) in audiobook format and I'm loving it. The narrators are making this story come to life for me. Hopefully I will be able to finish it late this week.

I hope everyone has a good week!

Waiting on Wednesday (69)

The Glittering Court by Richelle Mead

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I love everything Richelle Mead writes. Her books are always so entertaining and I'm so excited for this book to be released.

Expected Publication Date: April 5th, 2016

Synopsis: (Taken from Goodreads)
A dazzling new fantasy series set in a mix of Elizabethan and frontier worlds that’s dripping with romance from Richelle Mead, #1 internationally bestselling author of Vampire Academy.

Big and sweeping, spanning the refined palaces of Osfrid to the gold dust and untamed forests of Adoria, The Glittering Court tells the story of Adelaide, an Osfridian countess who poses as her servant to escape an arranged marriage and start a new life in Adoria, the New World. But to do that, she must join the Glittering Court.

Both a school and a business venture, the Glittering Court is designed to transform impoverished girls into upper-class ladies capable of arranging powerful and wealthy marriages in the New World. Adelaide naturally excels in her training and even makes a few friends: the fiery former laundress Tamsin and the beautiful Sirminican refugee Mira. She manages to keep her true identity hidden from all but one: the intriguing Cedric Thorn, son of the wealthy proprietor of the Glittering Court.

When Adelaide discovers that Cedric is hiding a dangerous secret of his own, together, they hatch a scheme to make the best of Adelaide’s deception. Complications soon arise—first, as they cross the treacherous seas from Osfrid to Adoria, and later, when Adelaide catches the attention of a powerful governor.

But no complication will prove quite as daunting as the potent attraction simmering between Adelaide and Cedric. An attraction that, if acted on, would scandalize the Glittering Court and make them both outcasts in wild, vastly uncharted lands. . . .

Raised in the Los Angeles Institute with the Blackthorn family, Emma is paired as a parabatai with her best friend, Julian Blackthorn. And her attention isn’t the only one caught: someone has been murdering Downworlders as well. The Fair Folk make a deal with the Institute: if the Blackthorns and Emma will investigate the killings, they’ll return Mark Blackthorn to his home. The catch: they have only two weeks to find the killers. Otherwise it’s open war between faeries and Nephilim.

The Shadowhunters of the Institute must race against time to catch the killers, even as they begin to suspect the involvement of those closest to them.
