Stacking the Shelves (64)

Welcome to this week's Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga`s Reviews. It features books I bought or received for review each week. It is about adding books to my book shelf whether it by physical, virtual or audio. Thanks for stopping by!

Books purchased at Chapter Indigo:

The Great Hunt by Wendy Higgins
Legacy of Kings by Eleanor Herman
The Beauty of Darkness by Mary E. Pearson
It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover

I can't believe it's August already. Where has the last 7 months gone? It's been awhile since I've posted anything. The honest truth is that I needed to step back with everything in my life and find what I really enjoy. In my time away from blogging I've found some new hobbies that I find that I love doing. Now I'm back and I've read some really good books in my time away and excited to start sharing. The books above are some of what I've bought recently. I'm so excited to start reading them! I think I'm going to start with It Ends with Us. The author posted a pic on Instagram recently where she has received something like over 800 5 star reviews on Amazon. I definitely would like to see what this book is about because of that.

What new books have you received recently???

Waiting on Wednesday (73)

Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Expected Publication Date: September 20, 2016

Synopsis: (Taken from Goodreads)
Every generation on the island of Fennbirn, a set of triplets is born: three queens, all equal heirs to the crown and each possessor of a coveted magic. Mirabella is a fierce elemental, able to spark hungry flames or vicious storms at the snap of her fingers. Katharine is a poisoner, one who can ingest the deadliest poisons without so much as a stomachache. Arsinoe, a naturalist, is said to have the ability to bloom the reddest rose and control the fiercest of lions.

But becoming the Queen Crowned isn’t solely a matter of royal birth. Each sister has to fight for it. And it’s not just a game of win or lose…it’s life or death. The night the sisters turn sixteen, the battle begins. The last queen standing gets the crown.

If only it was that simple. Katharine is unable to tolerate the weakest poison, and Arsinoe, no matter how hard she tries, can’t make even a weed grow. The two queens have been shamefully faking their powers, taking care to keep each other, the island, and their powerful sister Mirabella none the wiser. But with alliances being formed, betrayals taking shape, and ruthless revenge haunting the queens’ every move, one thing is certain: the last queen standing might not be the strongest…but she may be the darkest.

In a brilliant, elaborate plan of deception and murder, Em marries Prince Casimir, next in line to take Lera’s throne. If anyone in Lera discovers Em is not Casimir’s true betrothed, Em will be executed on the spot. But it’s the only way to salvage Em’s kingdom and what is left of her family.

Stacking the Shelves (62)

Welcome to this week's Stacking the Shelves hosted byTynga`s Reviews. It features books I bought or received for review each week. It is about adding books to my book shelf whether it by physical, virtual or audio. Thanks for stopping by!

Books purchased at Chapters Indigo:
The Siren by Keira Cass
Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

I was so happy when I ordered these books and I am so excited to read them. Unfortunately these are the last books I will be buying for a bit. No physical books, e-books, or audiobooks. Yikes! It's going to be so hard. I've put myself on a book buying ban because I realized I was buying more books that I could read. Hence the ban for 1-2 months. To tell you the truth I doubt I will last that long but I'm hoping I can hold off. I bought these books in February and it came earlier this week because of the March release of Lady Midnight. This will be the last Stacking the Shelves until I start buying books again :(

On another note, I'm currently reading The Heart of Betrayal (The Remnant Chronicles #2) in audiobook format and I'm loving it. The narrators are making this story come to life for me. Hopefully I will be able to finish it late this week.

I hope everyone has a good week!

Expected Publication Date: August 2nd, 2016

Synopsis: (Taken from Goodreads)
Lia and Rafe have escaped Venda and the path before them is winding and dangerous - what will happen now? This third and final book in The Remnant Chronicles is not to be missed.

Bestselling author Mary E. Pearson's combination of intrigue, suspense, romance and action make this a riveting page turner for teens.

Waiting on Wednesday (69)

The Glittering Court by Richelle Mead

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I love everything Richelle Mead writes. Her books are always so entertaining and I'm so excited for this book to be released.

Expected Publication Date: April 5th, 2016

Synopsis: (Taken from Goodreads)
A dazzling new fantasy series set in a mix of Elizabethan and frontier worlds that’s dripping with romance from Richelle Mead, #1 internationally bestselling author of Vampire Academy.

Big and sweeping, spanning the refined palaces of Osfrid to the gold dust and untamed forests of Adoria, The Glittering Court tells the story of Adelaide, an Osfridian countess who poses as her servant to escape an arranged marriage and start a new life in Adoria, the New World. But to do that, she must join the Glittering Court.

Both a school and a business venture, the Glittering Court is designed to transform impoverished girls into upper-class ladies capable of arranging powerful and wealthy marriages in the New World. Adelaide naturally excels in her training and even makes a few friends: the fiery former laundress Tamsin and the beautiful Sirminican refugee Mira. She manages to keep her true identity hidden from all but one: the intriguing Cedric Thorn, son of the wealthy proprietor of the Glittering Court.

When Adelaide discovers that Cedric is hiding a dangerous secret of his own, together, they hatch a scheme to make the best of Adelaide’s deception. Complications soon arise—first, as they cross the treacherous seas from Osfrid to Adoria, and later, when Adelaide catches the attention of a powerful governor.

But no complication will prove quite as daunting as the potent attraction simmering between Adelaide and Cedric. An attraction that, if acted on, would scandalize the Glittering Court and make them both outcasts in wild, vastly uncharted lands. . . .

EXCERPT

My mouth drops open and I can’t do anything but stare. It’s like seeing a ghost—something you never in your life ever expected to see—and I just can’t look away. I resist the urge to reach down and pinch myself to make sure this moment is real. Is this his idea of some twisted joke? I mean, there’s no way in hell that Jared Kraft is standing in my doorway with a dozen yellow roses after five years without a single word. Shit like that only happens in movies, and my life for damn sure isn’t some glamorous fairy tale. I stand there, staring like an idiot, while my brain tries to work out exactly what’s going on here. I furrow my brow. This has to be a dream. No way this man has the nerve to just show up here like this—not after all this time. I step back and take a long moment to study his face. He looks exactly the same as the last time I saw him, only his hair is longer—more shaggy and unkempt—the style I’ve seen him wear whenever I see pictures of him with his band, Wicked White. To prove to myself that this really is a dream, I reach down and bunch some skin up on my arm and then pinch with all my might. “Ouch!” I yelp as I inspect the flesh my nails dug into. My breath catches the moment I realize that the man who used to be my everything—the man who took off five years ago, leaving me and his family behind without so much as a good-bye or piss off—is standing on my porch. When my eyes meet his, so many questions rage through my mind, but before I can open my mouth to ask a single one, anger begins to boil over inside me. How dare he just come waltzing into my life after all this time? My body reacts of its own accord and my hand darts out to snatch the flowers out of his hand. His eyes grow wider when I slam them down onto my porch and then smack his face as hard as I can.

EXCERPT
He cups my face. “London . . .”
“Jared.” I can only whisper his name in return before he pulls me in for a kiss.
He doesn’t move too fast. He holds my face in his hands as he presses his mouth to mine. There’s no urgency in his actions. It’s almost as if he’s taking the time to savor every second of this.
He wraps his arms around my waist and pulls me in tighter. “I’ve missed you so much. Can you ever forgive me for leaving you—for that night in the parking lot? For everything? You should hate me, I know that, but I swear to God if you’ll let me, I’ll make it up to you.”

For years I’ve dreamed of him saying this, begging for my forgiveness and promising that he would make it up to me.

Welcome to this week's Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga`s Reviews. It features books I bought or received for review each week. It is about adding books to my book shelf whether it by physical, virtual or audio. Thanks for stopping by!

Purchased from Amazon:

Magic Stars (Grey Wolf #1) (Kate Daniels 8.5) by Ilona Andrews

I am so excited to start reading this book. From the reviews I read, this novella can not be missed if you love the Kate Daniels series. Not sure when I will get a chance to start reading it as I seem to be in a reading slump. I have been in one for the last 2-3 weeks. Maybe this book will get me out of it.

I put a few books on my Christmas list like Frozen Tides by Morgan Rhodes and others but I kinda wish now I didn't because I wanna get those books now.  I am being impatient but I want them, like yesterday. Hopefully the time passes by fast.

On another note, I apologize for being MIA the last couple of weeks. I have been going through some changes and it has been a little harder to adjust than I thought. Things are now back to normal and I am extremely happy about that.

What new books did you get this week?

Thanks for stopping by!
